This is funny on so many levels. (esp if you’ve seen Tourgasm and Seinfeld’s Comedian) The people involved in Funny People are spot on in everything I’ve seen so far.
Dude who sat in the office across from mine this past month:
I will miss working on a floor with glass offices, where I could see and hear everything you did. Like how instead of sitting in a normal chair, you bounced on a giant ball for 7 hours straight. Every day. And how you only took a break from bouncing to sporadically do push-ups. Remember the day you yelled, “Holy shit, dude! Michael Jackson DIED!” to no one in particular? It echoed across the floor and was met by silence due to everyone finding out the day prior. Good times.
I hope you enjoyed the bag of fun-size candy bars we gave you and your crew our last day. You earned it.
I have no idea who this muppet is, but it has been sitting in the office next to mine for nearly 2 weeks untouched. If you can identify it, please tell me. It is NOT Snufulufugus, so… WHO!?
Steve Martin is a comedy genius. If you want some insight to how he started in stand-up, read Born Standing Up, a great autobiography. If you want to laugh, listen to Let’s get Small or watch The Jerk (Three Amigos is another personal fave of mine).
I’m very psyched to see Funny People… check out some of the posters from George-Simmons.com They’ve got this viral campaign down.
In Judd Aptow’s Funny People, Adam Sandler’s character George Simmons is a successful stand-up comic turned comedy star who has appeared in many shitty but successful movies. Apatow was forced to create some of the character’s earlier big screen hits. Some of the films appear as posters or whatnot in the background, while others actually feature prominently on screen. Just one of many interviews I’ve read about the not-yet-tangible Ghostbusters 3. I’m still not sure how I feel about this. I am psyched about the video game, but I’m so nervous the film will be another in a long string of “too little too late” franchise installments we’ve seen over the years (don’t get me wrong, I will still freak out and see it numerous times). Aykroyd basically describes a “passing of the torch” movie, which was the premise of Extreme Ghostbusters, the cartoon that failed a couple years ago. I can’t think of anyone out there right now that I would be able to watch as a Ghostbuster and fully enjoy it. Seth Rogan? Michael Cera? Ben Stiller? Jay Baruchel? Seriously. That kind of bothers me. I don’t like when worlds collide like that. It would have to be people from that crew that haven’t really been defined yet or vary in their roles: Bill Hader is a bit of a chameleon, Andy Samberg hasn’t done anything big enough to be pegged a specific personality on film, not to mention the number of actors they could pick out of UCB obscurity. And I’m pretty sure I’d need someone a little more believable as a female ghostbuster than Milano or Dusku. Who would you like to see in the new crew?
The life size Party Wagon… I dreamed of making this my first car many a day as a kid.
